Mental Health November
Christmas, whether a religious time for you or simply a time of Public Holidays in the country you live in, is a stressful time. Work and life in general is, frantic! Families get together, and friends socialise a lot. Some individuals, however, feel very isolated - perhaps feel alone in a world that "doesn't care"?
Whether you personally feel worn down by the Christmas madness or not, it's important to take care of your mental health.
Keep drinking water and other non-alcoholic drinks especially on warm days. Try to balance your food intake with abundant healthy vegetables, fruit and lean protein. Get adequate rest. Say "no" if you would be better off declining.
For those feeling alone, reach out. Use the Helplines available in your State or Nationally. Those that answer, do care and may have good advice for your individual circumstances.
Attending community activities such as markets and carols by candlelight, will get you out of the rut you may have found yourself in. Maybe volunteering at a charity such as an animal sanctuary or at a human charity like a soup kitchen will lift your spirits.
One thing is certain for all of us, to get through Christmas we need to think about our needs and take action in order to meet those needs.
And regardless of your religious beliefs, be kind to others at this time of the year, and always.
